1969 Montego

1969 MERCURY COMET AND MONTEGO

The 1969 Montego was basically unchanged from 1968 with the exception of a

slight modification in the grille where the center of the grille protruded

slightly.  Also, the L-M emblem was now centered in the grille.

COMET:  The Comet now had Teakwood appliqués on the instrument panel and the

upholstery was now cloth and vinyl as standard.  The base engine was the 250

Inline 6.

MONTEGO:  The Montego had moldings above the rocker panels and trunk lid,

pinstripes on the upper body, and carpeting with a cloth and vinyl interior

was standard.

MONTEGO MX:  The MX had full length lower body moldings, chrome wheel lip

MONTEGO MX BROUGHAM:  No Information Available.  Reference the 1968 Model.

CYCLONE:  The Cyclone now came only in a fastback style.  It featured most

of the trim of the Montego MX, but it also had twin racing stripes, vent less

front side windows, and a tinted rear window.

CYCLONE CJ:  This Cyclone is the most desirable of the 1969 Montage's.  The

features were a blacked-out grille framed in chrome with a Cyclone emblem in

the center.  The CJ also came standard with the 428 Cobra Jet engine, dual

exhausts, a 3.50:1 rear axle ratio, engine dress up kit, hood stripe, and

the competition handling package.  There is a Cyclone Package also available.
